Ever wanted to get cable TV on your computer? I know I've always wanted this functionality, the ability to watch television while you're surfing the internet. Or switching to cable programming if you get tired playing a game. No need to transfer to another area, or even leave your chat session with a friend or loved one while you watch your favorite show.
So how do you watch cable TV on your computer? There are two ways to go about this, if you're comfortable with installing hardware on your computer then there are the TV tuners out in the market. But if you're more comfortable dealing with software and just installing it directly on your computer, then you can go for the satellite TV application.
The TV tuners that you can choose to install are either the PCI cards or the USB boxes. The PCI cards will need to be placed inside a slot in your computer's CPU. The USB box tuner will only need to be plugged to a free USB port. If you prefer for the equipment to be out of the way, then you can choose to go with the PCI cards. But if the slots in your CPU are already used up, then the USB box tuner will do fine.
Channels that you can access using the TV tuners are the free over the air channels in your area. These channels are your local and community channels as well as those that are offered for free by networks. We say that these are for free since anyone with an antenna, which your tuner is, can access them. Other premium channels like Cinemax, HBO, Starz and Encore will require you to pay a monthly fee through a cable provider. Getting a TV tuner will only require you to pay for the hardware one time.
If you prefer the application in getting cable TV on your computer, then you only need to pay for it one time as well. After that getting it installed is easy and the channels that you will be able to access are not only from the US but channels from all parts of the world.
Whether you choose to have a TV tuner or the application to get cable TV on your computer, both of them will still allow you to enjoy the convenience of surfing channels while surfing the net.
